Gatsibo district commemorated genocide perpetrated against Tutsi in April 1994. This time particularly Gatsibo remembered thousands of women killed in Remera sector.
The function that took place in Bugarura cell in Remera sector started by putting flowers on the grave where these women were buried.
This function was presided over by Richard Gasana, the mayor of Gatsibo district said the government of Rwanda is doing whatever it takes for genocide survivors not to live in loneliness.
Gasana commended genocide survivors for their resilience. He also thanked all people present.
He said that this commemoration is very significant because a women is the foundation of the family and the country.
The district mayor also recalled that all these massacres were the result of poor governance until 1994 and ensured the survivors that no more genocide will ever happen in Rwanda.
